Bereaved carers find support at Carers Support Centre thanks to Croydon funeral directors.

Bereaved carers who have lost a friend or family member they care for can find support at the Carers Support Centre thanks to local family-run funeral directors Rowland Brothers.

Through the Rowland Brothers Foundation, Rowland Brothers are providing a new bereavement support group for former carers.

The group will run for six weeks and support struggling former carers coming to terms with their loss.

The group is facilitated by a qualified counsellor and takes place at the Carers Support Centre, a drop-in carers' centre run by the Carers Information Service.

Sessions start from 14 February and are open to anyone in Croydon who previously cared for a friend, relative or neighbour with an illness or disability, and who has been bereaved for three months or more.

The Croydon family-run funeral directors also offer a free bereavement counselling service run by qualified counsellors across Croydon.

Christine Brownbridge, Bereavement Counsellor for Rowland Brothers said: ‘We are pleased to be able to facilitate this new bereavement group and help those who are suffering emotionally with the loss of a loved one.’

Helen Thompson, Carers Information Service manager, said: ‘Losing a loved one can be a very difficult time. We hear from so many people who find it hard to cope with life after caring.

This group is a real lifeline to those who are struggling.’
